Chemical Computing Group ULC (“CCG”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. CCG is a personal data controller; this means that CCG is responsible for deciding how it holds and uses personal data about you. This notice is aimed at informing you of how and why your personal data will be used.

Information collected

When you visit www.chemcomp.com, CCG may collect information about your visit, including pages on the CCG website that you visited, your IP address and computer settings. CCG does not retain personally identifiable information about you as result of using www.chemcomp.com unless you voluntarily submit such information to CCG.

When you request information about CCG's products, request an evaluation of CCG’s products, or register for CCG workshops, UGMs or other events, CCG will ask you to provide the following information: your name, e-mail address, employer or institution’s name, physical address and telephone number.

CCG typically engages in business-to-business transactions; consequently, CCG recommends that personal addresses and telephone numbers not be provided to CCG. CCG does not knowingly collect any information pertaining to persons under the age of 16.

If you purchase CCG's products, CCG will ask you to provide billing and shipping information, as well as the computer information necessary for generating software licenses. Prior to accessing any of CCG’s products, you will be required to provide (possibly written) acceptance of CCG’s license agreements, which CCG will retain for its records.

If you contact us directly (e.g., to apply for a position or use customer support), we may receive and store additional information about you such as your name, personal email address, phone number, the contents of the message and/or attachments you may send us (e.g., a curriculum vitae or technical data), and any other information you may choose to provide.

CCG recommends that confidential information not be provided to CCG without a prior written non-disclosure agreement between CCG and owner of the confidential information.

Use of information

Primarily, CCG uses information collected to provide you with the services you request. Occasionally, CCG may use information collected to provide you with additional information about CCG's products, services and events. CCG may use information collected to improve CCG's products, services or web site.

CCG needs the information collected to perform a contract with you to

  • provide and maintain CCG products and services;
  • provide customer support services;
  • process and reply to your requests.

The processing of information is CCG’s legitimate interest and it is not overridden by rights you may have:

  • find and prevent unlawful activity and to protect intellectual property rights;
  • understand how CCG products and services are used;
  • develop new, or improve existing features, functionality and content.

CCG needs to comply with applicable laws, regulations and government or judicial processes, including:

  • compliance with Export and Trade Control laws and “Know Your Customer” processes;
  • collecting and managing your consents and communications regarding your data;
  • maintenance of records of financial, service and licensing transactions.

CCG will retain personal information we collect from you where we have an ongoing legitimate business need to do so (for example, to provide you with a service you have requested or to comply with applicable legal requirements).

Data Sharing

CCG may share any information collected with

  • other companies or affiliates that work on CCG’s behalf;
  • a potential acquirer, successor, or assignee as part of a proposed business transaction or transfer;
  • a third party to satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.

CCG does not sell, rent, or trade personally identifiable information with third parties.

CCG uses third party service providers to store and/or process data for CCG’s business purposes. CCG reviews its third-party data processors to ensure data security and compliance with CCG’s Privacy Policy. Note that personal data may be exported to countries other than where originally collected.

Data Security

CCG has appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorized way, altered or disclosed. CCG limits access to your personal data to those employees, agents, contractors and other third parties who have a business need-to-know and have a duty of confidentiality.

CCG follows generally accepted industry standards to protect your data, both during transmission and once received by CCG. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

Electronic Communications

In all Commercial Electronic Messages (CEM), such as e-mail, whether sent individually, in bulk communications or automated electronic communications (including CCG’s internal CRM, financial and customer support systems) CCG identifies itself as the originator of the CEM with “Chemical Computing Group”, CCG’s physical address, telephone number and web site www.chemcomp.com.

With the exception of fulfilling contracts or communications related to providing products or services you request, CCG will not send CEMs to you without your (implied or express) consent. CCG complies with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation and Regulations.

CCG will store your e-mail address in order to record, manage and enforce your consent related to CEMs from CCG. CCG provides a free mechanism to let you manage your consent for CCG’s use of your e-mail address for CEMs.

Direct Marketing

CCG does not share personal data with third parties for their direct marking purposes without your permission. CCG may share your e-mail address with third-party bulk e-mail service providers for communications from CCG related to CCG events, products and services.

CCG does not use third-party cookies (small files placed onto your device) or other internet tracking technologies. When you visit www.chemcomp.com, CCG may use anonymous cookies to protect the site and improve your experience; the cookies will expire when your session ends.

CCG does not make marketing decisions based solely on automated processing of your personal data with the exception of the enforcement of your electronic communication (CEM) consents and your city or town to promote CCG’s occasional regional events.

  • Correct errors in your personal data
  • Erase your personal data (where retention is not required by applicable law or regulation)
